Growing Rate of STI Infections in Teenagers of UK

The health department of UK is taken aback by the number of children under 16 affected with STIs like Chlamydia, Gonorrhoea, genital warts and genital herpes. Within five years the number of children being affected with sexually transmitted disease has risen to 3,913 from 2,474. Within this short time period the rate of Chlamydia infection has skyrocketed by 90%. Though this disease can be easily cured it can cause serious problems like miscarriage, chronic abdominal pain and ectopic pregnancy when left undiagnosed. According to the health spokesman the children must be informed about the risks of associated with sexual relationship and they must be taught the safe ways. Sex education is gaining more importance than ever so that people especially teenagers can be more aware of responsible sexual behavior.
